Abstract
The main objective of bachelor thesis was to find out the role of boarding school in rural area in providing accessibility to the educational process. To fulfill this objective qualitative methods like partly-structured interview with participants of boarding school educational network and focus-group interview with kids from boarding school were used. Quantitative research method – questionaries’ of parents of kids living in boarding school - also was used in preparation of this study. Obtained data was processed with grounded theory and analyzed using agent network theory. Study showed that boarding school is an opportunity to learn social skills and provide basic needs in rural area. At the time of optimization of Latvian school network, boarding schools are seen as an alternative in providing accessibility to the educational process.
