Abstract
The thesis examines the institution of immunity of Members of the European Parliament and the possibilities for lifting it. The thesis analyses Protocol 7 to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union on the privileges and immunities of the European Union, in relation to the practice developed by the European Parliament in deciding on the waiver of the immunity of MEPs, the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights. As well as the existing doctrine, with a view to establishing the possibilities of waiving the immunity of Tatjana Ždanoka as a Member of the European Parliament to prosecute her for the alleged acts committed by her in the course of her duties
