Medicīnas terminoloģijas aktivizēšana angļu valodā ar komunikatīvo vingrinājumu palīdzību

Abstract

Šajā maģistra darbā tiek aplūkota medicīnas terminoloģijas mācīšana un apgūšana angļu valodā. Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot komunikatīvo vingrinājumu ietekmi uz studentu leksiskās kompetences apguvi angļu valodā speciāliem mērķiem. Teorētiskajā daļā tiek apskatītas jauno vārdu mācīšanas problēmas angļu valodā speciāliem mērķiem kontekstā, tajā ietverot leksikas mācīšanas un mācīšanās vadošo principu un vingrinājumu analīzi. Praktiskajā daļā tiek aplūkota komunikatīvo vingrinājumu pielietošana konkrētā mācību kontekstā, proti, angļu valodas mācīšanā pirmā kursa Stomatoloģijas fakultātes studentiem Rīgas Stradiņa universitātē. Iegūtie pētījuma rezultāti rāda, ka uz studējošajiem vērsti komunikatīvie vingrinājumi var pozitīvi ietekmēt viņu aktīvo vārdu krājumu.

The present master thesis examines the issue of teaching and learning English terminology for medical purposes. Its goal is to investigate the effect of communicative activities on the development of ESP learners’ lexical competence. The theoretical part of the research deals with the problem of vocabulary instruction in ESP context, both general principles and specific communicative activities being addressed in the thesis. The practical part discusses the implementation of communicative activities in a definite educational context, namely the study of English by first-year undergraduate Dentistry students at Riga Stradins University. The outcomes of the pilot study reveal that the learner-centred communicative activities can have a significant positive impact on the development of the learners’ productive word stock.
