Kultūras apziņas nozīme angļu valodas apguvē

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā pētīta kultūras apziņas nozīme angļu valodas apguvē. Darba mērķis ir izzināt kā kultūras apziņa veicina starpkultūru izpratnes kompetenci. Darbs sastāv no divām daļām-teorētiskās un praktiskās. Darba teorētiskajā daļā ir sniegts ieskats kultūras, kultūras apziņas un starpkultūtru izpratnes kompetences jēdzienos un teorijās, kā arī pētīts, kā kultūras apziņa palīdz izvairīties no stereotipiem un kultūras šoka. Darba praktiskajā daļā aprakstīta studentu un pasniedzēju attieksme pret kultūras mācīšanu Latvijas Universitātē. Tajā pētīts, kā angļu filoloģijas bakalaura programma attīsta starpkultūru izpratnes kompetenci. Darbā pielietotās metodes ir izmantotās literatūras analīze, pasniedzēju un studentu aptauju rezultātu analīze. Veiktais pētījums ļauj secināt, ka Latvijas Universitātes angļu filoloģijas bakalaura programma attīsta studentu starpkultūru izpratnes kompetenci.

The bachelor paper investigates the role of cultural awareness in EFL classroom. The purpose of the bachelor paper is to explore the way how cultural awareness develops intercultural competence. The paper consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part of the paper describes the concept of culture, cultural awareness and intercultural competence, and investigates how cultural awareness can help to avoid culture shock and stereotypes. The practical part of the research investigates students’ and teachers’ attitude to the cultural studies in the University of Latvia. It explores how Bachelor programme of English Philology develop students intercultural competence. Methods used for the research are the following: analysis of literature and surveys. The research has led to the conclusion that students’ at the University of Latvia are culturally competent language learners and English Philology study programme in the University of Latvia develops intercultural competence.
