Ukrainas kara diskurss ASV konservatīvajos medijos 2024. gadā: podkāstu piemērs

Abstract

Maģistra darba tēma ir ’’Ukrainas kara diskurss ASV konservatīvajos medijos 2024. gadā: podkāstu piemērs.'' Pētījuma mērķis ir analizēt, kādas varas un ideoloģiskās iezīmes izpaužas ASV konservatīvajos podkāstos, veidojot diskursu par Ukrainas karu. Galvenā problēma ir, ka Konservatīvo ASV politikas komentētāju ietekme un loma diskursa veidošanā par Ukrainas karu ir problemātiska ģeopolitiskās stabilitātes ziņā, jo pie varas grožiem ir Donalds Tramps – politiķis, kurš pats pauž negatīvu retoriku attiecībā uz atbalstu Ukrainai. Šāda diskursa lomas pētniecība var rast skaidrojumu tam, kādas ideoloģijas, attiecības un uzskati motivē attiecīgo jaunā alternatīvā medija pārstāvjus. Pētījuma teorētisko pieeju veido kritiskās diskursa analīzes dažādie aspekti, savukārt metodoloģija balstās uz divām galvenajām metodēm, ar kuru palīdzību tiek analizēti pieci podkāsti – Normana Fērklaufa trīsdimensiju modelis un Teuna van Dika sociokognitīvā pieeja un ideoloģiskais kvadrāts. Papildus skaidrojumus un kontekstu sniedz sekundārās literatūras analīze deviņiem rakstiem par trīs tēmām – Ukrainas kara rāmējumu Krievijas un Rietumu medijos, podkāstu, kā alternatīva medija loma un populisms, kā ideoloģiskās komunikācijas rīks. Veicot pētījumu, tika secināts, ka politiskie komentētāji veido populistiskās ideoloģijas diskursu, kur izpaužas jaunas realitātes konstrukcija, emocionāla un uztraukumu raisoša valoda, savstarpējas ’’mēs’’ pret ’’viņiem’’ konstrukcijas, kā arī pastiprināta kritika liberālajām, demokrātiskajām institūcijām, kuras piedalās Eiropas aizstāvēšanā pret agresoru – Krieviju. Šāds diskurss tiek papildināts ar faktu sagrozīšanu, kā rezultātā diskurss tiek piesātināts ar puspatiesībām. ASV konservatīvajai sabiedrībai, kura šādi domā, svarīgākas ir iekšpolitiskas intereses.

The theme of the master’s thesis is ’’ The Ukraine war discourse in conservative U.S. Media in 2024: the podcast example.’’ The goal ir to analyze, what kind of power realtionships and ideological aspects are represented in U.S. conservative podcasts, with regards to the dicourse around the war in Ukraine. The main issue is that the influence of conservative commentators, can be geopolitically destabilizing, considering Donald Trump, who recently came back to power and espouses similar negative rhetoric about Ukraine. Analysis of this kind of discourse can reveal what kind of ideologies, relationships and views motivate the members of the new alternative medium – the podcast. Theoretically, the analysis is based on the different aspects of critical discourse analysis, but the methodology ir based on two main approaches for discourse analysis of five podcast episodes – Norman Fairclough’s model and Teun van Djik’s sociocognitive approach and ideological square. Atditionally, context is given through secondary literature analysis of nine publications about three main themes – the framing of the Ukraine war in western and russian media, podcasts as a form of alternative media and populism as a tool for ideological communication. In the end, it was concluded, that political commentators create populistic discourse, which is expressed through such aspects, as the creation of a new reality, emotional and stress creating language and the us vs. them dynamic – also – extensive critisism of liberal and democratic institutions, that participate in the defense of Europe against Russia. This kind of discourse ir added to by deliberate misinformation in which the facts are bent every which way so the beliefs wouldn’t be harmed and therefore te discourse is filled with half-truths.
