Abstract
Author of qualification work: Baiba Strazdiņa The aim of the study "The use of digital technologies for mathematical skills development in pre-school education for children in the 3rd age group" is to understand and examine :how to use digital technologies in a meaningful way in the pre-school education process for children in the 3rd age group in the area of mathematics? and to find out the views of preschool teachers on the use of digital technologies in mathematics learning in preschool. In order to start the research, first of all, a literature analysis of different studies was carried out. Most of the literature was in English and translated into Latvian. The theoretical part analysed the role of the digital environment in the development of the preschool child, the positive features and risks of using digital technologies, the development of 5-6 year old children and mathematical skills. The empirical part of the study included observation of children, development of criteria, practical work to improve children's mathematical skills and a questionnaire survey of teachers. The research tasks led to the conclusion that the meaningful use of digital technologies contributes to a more successful learning of mathematics. Also, after the questionnaire survey of pre-school teachers, it could be concluded that teachers support the meaningful use of digital technologies in pre-school for children of age 3. Keywords: digital technology, meaningful, age 3
