Abstract
Pētījumā piedalījās 89 Latvijas pilsoņi (N = 89), vecumā no 22 līdz 61 gadiem. Pētījumā izmantotas divas aptaujas: Lielā Piecinieka personības aptauja (Schmitt et al., 2007) un “Importance of Conventional Citizenship” skala (Schulz & Sibberns, 2004).
The aim of this study was to examine whether there are associations between personality traits, civic responsibility, and participation in political elections among Latvian citizens. The study involved 89 Latvian citizens (N = 89), aged between 22 and 61. Two questionnaires used were: the Big Five Inventory (Schmitt et al., 2007) and the “Importance of Conventional Citizenship” scale (Schulz & Sibberns, 2004). Results show that civic responsibility significantly correlates with voting activity, while the traits of conscientiousness and agreeableness correlate with civic responsibility. No personality dimension was directly linked to voting behavior. The findings highlight the role of civic responsibility in political participation.
