Abstract

Literārie darbi ir kritiska prizma sociālo jautājumu izpētei, piemēram, lai izzinātu mūsdienu sabiedrībā sievietēm uzspiestās ekspektācijas, kas joprojām ietekmē sieviešu pieredzi un priekšstatus par mātišķību. Šis pētījums aplūko mūsdienu mātišķības mītu teorētiskajā literatūrā un tā atspoguļojumu P. Česleres (1979) darbā “Ar bērnu: mātišķības dienasgrāmata” un Š. Heti (2018) darbā “Mātišķība”. Šī pētījuma mērķis ir, izmantojot detalizēto lasīšanu, teksta interpretāciju un salīdzināšanu, izšķirt un interpretēt mātišķības mīta atspoguļojumu izvēlētajos naratīvos, analizēt mātes lomai piedēvētās raksturīgās sabiedrības ekspektācijas, kā arī izdarīt atbilstošus secinājumus.

Literature is a critical lens for examining social issues, for example unrealistic societal expectations of motherhood imposed on women in modern societies that continue to influence their experiences and perceptions of motherhood. The research examines the modern myth of motherhood in the theoretical literature and its portrayal in P. Chesler’s (1979) With Child: A Diary of Motherhood and S. Heti’s (2018) Motherhood. Employing close reading, interpretation, and comparison the study aims to dissect and interpret the representation of motherhood within these narratives analysing the institutional expectations and experiences depicted by the authors and drawing relevant conclusions.
