Franču metaforu mutiskā tulkošana Eiropas Savienības Parlamenta debatēs

Abstract

Šajā pētījumā tiek pētītas un klasificētas tulkošanas stratēģijas, kuras mutvārdu tulki izmanto, strādājot ar metaforām, kuras tiek izmantotas Eiropas Savienības parlamentāro debašu laikā, tulkojot no franču valodas uz angļu un latviešu valodu. Metafora ir plaši izplatīts lingvistisks līdzeklis, kam ir būtiska nozīme un retoriskā ietekme. Izpratne par to, kā tulki saprot un pārnes metaforiskus izteicienus, ir ļoti svarīga precīzam un uzticamam tulkojumam, efektīvai komunikācijai, kā arī lingvistisko un kognitīvo procesu izpētei. Metaforu gadījumi tika izvērtēti no izmantoto tulkošanas stratēģiju viedokļa, rezultātā secinot, ka tulki pielieto gan metaforu atmešanu, gan saglabāšanu, atkarībā no avotvalodas un mērķvalodas līdzībām.

This study examines and classifies the translational strategies professional interpreters use when dealing with metaphors used in the setting of European Union parliamentary debates interpreting from French into English and Latvian. Metaphor is a pervasive linguistic tool that carries significant meaning and rhetorical impact. Understanding how interpreters navigate and convey metaphorical expressions is crucial for accurate and faithful translations, effective communication, and the study of linguistic and cognitive processes. Cases of metaphor were evaluated in terms of translation strategies which led to results showing that interpreters value both discarding and preserving metaphors, depending on the similarity of the source and target languages.
