Priekšstati par seksuālu uzmākšanos sievietēm darbavietā Latvijā

Abstract

Maģistra darba tēma ir “Priekšstati par seksuālu uzmākšanos sievietēm darbavietā Latvijā”. Tā mērķis ir noskaidrot sabiedrības priekšstatus par seksuālu uzmākšanos sievietēm darbavietā Latvijā. Balstoties uz mērķi, maģistra darbā īstenots jaukto metožu tipa pētījums – kvantitatīvi, tiešsaistes aptaujas veidā, noskaidrojot, kādi priekšstati par problēmu pastāv sabiedrībā Latvijā, bet kvalitatīvi, daļēji strukturētu interviju veidā, iegūstot problēmas padziļinātāku izpratni starp sievietēm, lai kopumā veiktu niansētāku tās analīzi. Pirmajā darba nodaļā aplūkots seksuālas uzmākšanās darbavietā koncepts, definējot svarīgākos problēmas elementus. Otrajā nodaļā tiek vērsta uzmanība seksuālas uzmākšanās darbavietā izpausmēm, raksturojot tās kategorijas un formas, to ietekmējošās sekas, kā arī maldīgos priekšstatus par problēmu. Trešā nodaļa veltīta iepriekš veiktu pētījumu pārskatam, bet ceturtā nodaļa iepazīstināšanai ar maģistra darbā izmantotajiem teorētiskajiem ietvariem – sociālajam konstrukcionismam un seksismam. Tam seko metodoloģijas, empīrisko datu analīzes, secinājumu un diskusijas nodaļas. Kopumā pētījumā secināts, ka aptaujāto iedzīvotāju priekšstati par seksuālu uzmākšanos sievietēm darbavietā Latvijā ir vērtējami kā patiesi – maldīgie priekšstati lielākoties tiek noraidīti. Kvantitatīvie dati apstiprināja divas no izvirzītajām hipotēzēm, norādot uz būtisku pieņemto seksisma vērtību un dzimuma ietekmi uz priekšstatiem par problēmu. Kvalitatīvie dati norāda, ka būtiska nozīme ir arī izpratnei par seksuālu uzmākšanos sievietēm darbavietā un pieredzei ar to. Galvenais secinājums – sabiedrība par problēmu ir vairāk jāinformē, tas tiek sagaidīts arī no iedzīvotāju puses, jo informācijas trūkums pašreiz ietekmē gan zināšanas, gan priekšstatus par to. The topic of the master thesis is “Views on Sexual Harassment of Women in the Workplace in Latvia”. The objective of the study is to find out the societal perceptions about sexual harassment of women in the workplace in Latvia. Based on the objective, the master thesis is a mixed-methods study – quantitatively, in the form of an online survey, it is aimed to find what perceptions of the problem exist in society in Latvia, and qualitatively, in the form of semi-structured interviews, it is aimed to gain a more in-depth understanding of the problem among women in order to make a more nuanced analysis of it in general. The first chapter of the thesis presents the concept of sexual harassment in the workplace, defining the most essential elements of the problem. The second chapter focuses on the manifestations of sexual harassment in the workplace, describing its categories, forms, and leading consequences, as well as the misconceptions of the problem. The third chapter is devoted to a review of previous research and the fourth chapter to an introduction to the theoretical frameworks used in the thesis – social constructionism and sexism. This is followed by chapters on methodology, empirical data analysis, conclusions and discussion. Overall, the study concludes that the respondents' perceptions of sexual harassment of women in the workplace in Latvia can be assessed as true – misconceptions are mostly rejected. The quantitative data supported two of the hypotheses, indicating a considerable influence of accepted sexist values and gender on perceptions of the problem. The qualitative data also indicate that perceptions and experiences of sexual harassment of women in the workplace play a significant role. The main conclusion is that society needs to be informed about the problem, and that it is also expected of the population, as the current lack of information affects both, knowledge and perceptions.
