Vegāna identitātes iegūšana un pilnveidošana caur ikdienas praksēm

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā „Vegāna identitātes iegūšana un pilnveidošana caur ikdienas praksēm,” tiek apskatīta problēma, ka ētiskā vegānisma principu - nedarīt nekādas darbības, kas varētu būt saistītas ar dzīvnieku ekspluatāciju, - dzīvē pilnībā īstenot ir gandrīz neiespējami, taču neskatoties uz to, Latvijas ētiskie vegāni spēj uzturēt savas identitātes apziņu. Kā galveno teorētisko ietvaru izmantojot Fredrika Bārta etnisko grupu robežu teoriju un Pītera Burka identitātes kontroles teoriju, darbā tiek secināts, ka pilnīga atteikšanās no jebkāda veida dzīvnieku izcelsmes produktiem tiek redzēta drīzāk kā mērķis uz ko patstāvīgi tiekties. Tomēr tas, ka katra novirze no identitātes standarta ir apzinātas morālās izvēles pavadīta, ļauj vegānam sevi identificēt kā atšķirīgu no personām, kas tās pašas darbības veic bez morālas spriešanas klātesamības.

In Bachelors thesis “Acquirement and development of vegan identity through everyday practice” the examined problem is that principles of ethical veganism – not doing any kind of action that could be connected with exploitation of animals – is almost impossible to carry out in everyday life, however, Latvian ethical vegans still maintain their identity as vegans. As main theoretical framework Fredrik Barth’s theory of ethnic boundaries and Peter Burke’s Identity control theory are used, and the conclusion of the work is that avoidance of any kind of animal products is seen more as a goal to which the vegans are striving for. The fact that every deviation from identity standard is accompanied with conscious moral choice allows vegan to separate themselves from those who might commit the same action without moral reasoning about it.
