Abstract
Šajā bakalaura darbā tiek pētīta krimināla satura mediju patēriņa saistība ar sabiedrības uztveri par krimināltiesību sistēmu. Pamatojoties uz strukturēšanas, kultivācijas un dienaskārtības teorijām, tiek analizēts, kā mediju veidotie tēli un emocionālie vēstījumi var ietekmēt indivīdu bailes no noziedzības un uzticēšanos policijai, tiesu varai un likumdevējiem. Pētījumā izmantota kvantitatīva metode - tiešsaistes anketa, kuru aizpildīja 114 pieaugušie Latvijā. Tika analizētas saistības starp trīs mainīgajiem: kriminālsatura patēriņa biežumu, baiļu līmeni un uztveri par krimināltiesību sistēmu. Lai gan korelāciju rezultāti nebija statistiski nozīmīgi, tie norāda uz potenciālām interpretācijām un pētniecības virzieniem nākotnē, piemēram, emocionālās desensitizācijas vai selektīvas satura izvēles iespējamību. Darba noslēgumā tiek uzsvērta arī medijpratības nozīme kā aizsargmehānisms pret izkropļotu uztveri.
This bachelor’s thesis investigates the relationship between the consumption of crime-related media content and public perceptions of the criminal justice system. Taking framing, cultivation, and agenda-setting theories as a theoretical basis, the study explores how media narratives and emotionally charged portrayals influence fear of crime and trust in the police, courts, and legislative institutions. The study used a quantitative approach via an online survey completed by 114 adult respondents in Latvia. Three variables were analyzed: frequency of crime-related media consumption, fear of crime, and perceptions of the justice system. While the correlation results were not statistically significant, they suggest potential interpretative pathways such as desensitization or pre-existing openness to media exposure. The findings also highlight the importance of media literacy as a protective factor against distorted perceptions of criminal justice.
