Lingvistisko un stilistisko īpatnību tulkošana modernajos angļu īsajos stāstos krievu un latviešu valodā

Abstract

Šis pētījums aplūko moderno angļu beletristisko tekstu valodas un stila tulkošanas metodes. Šī pētījuma nolūks ir norādīt iespējamas pieejas, pielietotas sekmīgas tulkošanas panākšanai. Pētījums ietvēr pastāvošo tulkošanas paņemienu teoretisku izskatīšanu, Džona Viljamsa īsā stāsta „Pie Melna Cēzara” krievu un latviešu valodas tulkojumu komparatīvo analīzi, kā arī detalizētu diskusiju par noteiktiem sarežģītiem jautājumiem kas attiecas uz tulkosanas procesu. Iegūtie rezultāti pierāda to, ka tulkotāja uzdevums ir komplicēts un pieprasa lingvistisko un kulturālo kompetenci. Pētījuma procesā iegūtos datus varētu izmantot kā praktisku ieteikumu maz pieredzējušiem beletristikas tulkotājiem un parādīt to, kā tulkotāja ieguldījums ļauj radīt adekvātu un kvalitatīvu tulkojumu.

The present research explores the ways of rendering language and style in translation of modern English fiction. The purpose of the study is to indicate the possible approaches used to attain a successful translation. The research comprises theoretical discussion of the existing translation techniques, a comparative analysis of the Russian and Latvian translations of the short story by John Williams “Black Caesar’s”, and a detailed examination of certain challenging issues concerning the translation process. The obtained results prove that the task of the translator is complex and requires both linguistic and cultural proficiency. The findings of the research could serve as a practical guidance for novice translators of fiction, and can demonstrate how the input of the translator allows creating an adequate and quality translation.
