Abstract
Secinājumi: Izstrādātā metodika ļauj novērtēt augstas pakāpes (vēlīnas kataraktas) gaismas izkliedi acī, taču pie zemākām pakāpēm (agrīnas kataraktas) tā neuzrāda nozīmīgas atšķirības no normas
Atslēgas vārdi: VEP, kontrastjutība, gaismas izkliede, katarakta
Purpose:To create a methodology for evaluating the level of light scattering in the eyes using VEP method Subjects: 10 young adults with good binocular visual acuity and anatomically healthy eyes were tested Method: Pattern reversal VEP method with different contrast levels was used to evaluate the impact of contrast to VEP amplitudes. Light scattering filters were used to simulate cataract Results: VEP amplitudes decrease along with the decrease of contrast as well as with increase of light scattering level. Decrease in amplitudes can be associated with effects of cataract Conclusions: This method can be used to evaluate high level of scattering in eyes (late cataracts), but it does not show considerable changes in results when the level of scattering is low (early cataracts) Key words: VEP, contrast sensitivity, light scattering, cataracts
