Abstract
This master paper focuses on harām or elements of the forbidden in islam that tightly twist the day life of Muslims not only in everyday, but also in sacred and judicial spheres, therefore the main goal of this work is to show that harām is one of the foundation stones of islam. In order to have a better insight of elements of the forbidden, this paper looks at the historical background in which these rules appeared. Harām has been analysed on the basis of most significant sources of islamic law – Korān and the hadīth.
