Abstract
Dženifera Egana ir rakstniece, kuri raksturīgi darbos iekļaut vairākus savstarpēji saistītus vēstījumus. Eganas vēstītājs romānā ‘Konfekšu nams’ pastāvīgi maina skatupunktus, kas rada neuzticama stāstījuma iespaidu. Šī bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētīt, kā daiļliteratūrā tiek izmantoti dažādi stāstījuma veidi un kā tos savā romānā ‘Konfekšu nams’ iekļauj Dženifera Egana, īpašu uzmanību pievēršot neuzticamiem stāstījuma lietojumam. Šajā darbā izmantotās metodes ir teksta analīze, tuvinātā lasīšana un interpretācija. Secinājumi liecina, ka šajā romānā vēstījuma skatupunkts pastāvīgi mainās, sniedzot lasītājam iespēju aplūkot stāsta varoņus un notikumus no dažādām perspektīvām. Neretis neuzticamo vēstītāju sniegtā informācija ir subjektīva, kā arī vērojama tendence, ka stāstījumu ietekmē tēlu personiskās aizspriedumi.
Jennifer Egan is a writer who integrates narratives with multiple interlocking stories. In ‘The Candy House’, Egan’s narrators are constantly switching their point of views, which leads to the question of narrative reliability. The goal of this bachelor thesis is to study the use of different types of narrative voices in fiction, and how they are incorporated by Jennifer Egan in her novel ‘The Candy House’, while paying particular attention to examining the instances of unreliable narration in the text. The methods used in this paper are text analysis, close reading, and interpretation. The findings show that, in this novel, the narrative point of view keeps changing, giving the reader an opportunity to review the story’s characters and events from different perspectives. However, as the narrators are often unrliable, in some cases, the information provided by the narrator is limited: there are instances where observations of the narrator and internal thoughts of the characters are very subjective, as well as the tendency of the unreliable narrative being influenced by personal biases of characters.
