Abstract
19. gadsimta sākumā Latgales latviešu vidū dominēja katoļticība, bet pārējā Latvijas teritorijā - luterisms. Latgalē luterāņi bija sastopami tikai dažviet Sēlijas pierobežā. 19. gs. otrajā pusē un 20. gs. sākumā Latgalē ieceļoja liels skaits iedzīvotāju no citiem Latvijas novadiem. No šiem ieceļotājiem un to pēctečiem pakāpeniski izveidojās luterāņu draudzes Latgalē.
Vārkavas apkaimē ieceļotāji bija galvenokārt no Sēlijas.
Lutherans of Vārkava's Area: History and Nowadays There was dominated Catholicism among Latgale’s Latvians in the beginning of 19th century, but the rest of the Latviaš territory – Lutheranism. In Latgale Lutherans were found only in some parts of Sēlija’s border area. In the second half of 19th century and in 20. century in Latgale came a large nuber of people from other Latvia’s provinces. Of these incomers and their descendants gradually formed the Lutheran Church in Latgale. In Vārkava’s vicinity incomers were mainly from Sēlija. They differed from Vārkava’s indigenous peoples not only of religion, but also by language differences, folk traditions and often levels of wealth. Over times, especially after The Second World War, the descendants of incomers adapted to local environment, but retained his Lutheran background, as well as some Catholic District foreign residents folk tradition.
