Meža nozares attīstības perspektīvas Latvijā

Abstract

Latvijā klimatisko un ģeogrāfisko apstākļu dēļ meža un kokrūpniecības nozare vēsturiski ir viena no ekonomikas balsta nozarēm. Meža nozare vienmēr ir bijusi vērsta uz eksportu un pašreizējais ieguldījums eksportā ir ļoti stabils jau vairākus gadus, kas liecina par nozares būtisko ietekmi uz valsts ekonomikas izaugsmi un makroekonomisko stabilitāti. Faktiski ikviens Latvijas iedzīvotājs tieši vai netieši iegūst tad, ja meža nozarei klājas labi. Latvija ir trešā mežainākā ES dalībvalsts. Ja 1920. gadā bija 24 % meža zemju, tad tagad ir 45 %, bet tuvākā nākotnē tas varētu sasniegt 50 %. Tātad Latvijā meža resursu apjoms ir stabili augošs. Būtiski ir saudzīgi un ar perspektīvu apsaimniekot savus mežus. Tāpēc pašreizējā situācijā ir būtiski pozicionēt Latvijas kokrūpniecības vietu un lomu globālajos tirgus procesos. Diplomdarba mērķis ir izanalizēt meža nozari Latvijā un tās attīstības perspektīvas nākotnē. Pētījuma gaitā darba autors sniedz secinājumus un priekšlikumus, kas saistīti ar Latvijas meža nozares attīstību, kā arī iespējamiem risinājumiem nozares konkurētspējas paaugstināšanai. Pētījums var tikt izmantojams atbildīgajām institūcijām izvērtējot meža nozares līdzšinējo saimniecisko darbību, kā arī mežsaimniecības un kokrūpniecības padziļinātai pētīšanai Latvijā.

Due to climatic and geographical conditions forest and woodworking industry in Latvia historically has been one of the economy support sectors. Forest sector has always been export oriented, and its present contribution to export, which has been very stable for several years, reveals the significant impact that the sector has upon the economic growth of the state and its macroeconomic stability. In fact all inhabitants of Latvia benefit either directly or indirectly from the success of the forest industry. Latvia is the third most densely forest – covered EU member state. Already in 1920 24 % were forest lands, now this indicator is 45 %, but within a near future it might reach 50 %. Thus, the forest resources in Latvia experience a stable growth. Considerate and long-term forest management is of crucial importance. For that reason in the present situation it is important for Latvian forest industry to strengthen its position and role in the global market processes. The purpose of graduation work is to analyse forest sector in Latvia and its perspectives of development in future. In the process of research author gives conclusions and proposals with regard to the development of Latvian forest sector and possible solutions to increase the competitiveness of the sector. Research can be used by competent institutions to appraise previous economic activities in forest sector, as well as for deepen studies about forest management and forest industry in Latvia.
