Ērkšķaino augu nosaukumu tulkošanas problemātika Vecajā Derībā

Abstract

Šī darba mērķis ir apskatīt Vecās Derības tulkošanas problemātiku caur viena gadījuma – ērkšķaino augu tulkošanas specifikas – prizmu. Lai mērķi sasniegtu, apskatītas dažādas tulkošanas pieejas, ieskicēta Bībeles augu tulkošanas vēsture, apkopoti 20 Vecajā Derībā atrodamu ērkšķaino augu nosaukumi, kuru nozīmes salīdzinātas divās Bībeles vārdnīcās un divu Bībeles augu pētnieku darbos. Noskaidrots latviešu valodā pieejamais vārdu krājums ērkšķainu augu nosaukumu tulkošanai. Visbeidzot, veikta piecu Rakstu vietu ekseģēze, ar mērķi noskaidrot, vai iespējams precizēt ērkšķaino augu tulkojumus, kā arī ieskicēt problēmas, ar kurām jāsaskaras Vecās Derības tulkotājam, tulkojot ērkšķaino augu nosaukumus latviešu valodā.

The aim of thesis “The Problematic Aspects of Translating the Names of Thorny Plants from Biblical Hebrew to Latvian” is to inspect the problematic aspects of translating the Old Testament through a specific case – thorny plants. In order to reach the aim, various translation approaches are examined, history of research on Biblical plants is outlined, names of 20 thorny and prickly plants mentioned in the Old Testament are collected. Their meanings are compared in two Bible dictionaries and in the works of two researchers. The available vocabulary in Latvian is examined. Finally an exegesis of five Scripture passages is carried out. The aim of exegesis is to determine whether it is possible to specify the translations of the thorny plants, and to outline the problems a translator faces while translating them into Latvian.
