Abstract
Bachelor Thesis Topic – Adherence to the Basic Principles of a Healthy Lifestyle in a Social Care Centre. The relevance of the topic is determined by the ageing of the population and the need to improve the quality of life of seniors by promoting a healthy lifestyle in social care centres. Observing the principles of a healthy lifestyle is essential for seniors as it helps maintain physical and emotional health, reduces the risk of chronic diseases, and improves overall quality of life. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the adherence to healthy lifestyle principles in a social care centre, identify existing problems, and develop recommendations. Tasks include: examining theoretical sources, applying Nola Pender’s Health Promotion Model, conducting a client survey, analysing the collected data, and developing recommendations. The bachelor thesis consists of four theoretical chapters and one empirical chapter. The theoretical part analyses the main principles of a healthy lifestyle, their impact on the elderly, and their implementation in social care centres, as well as the application of Nola Pender’s model in the context of the research topic. The hypothesis states that adherence to healthy lifestyle principles in a social care centre is limited due to a lack of resources and insufficient knowledge among clients and staff. The research method used is quantitative, and the instrument is a questionnaire. The results show that the adherence to healthy lifestyle principles in the social care centre is incomplete. Clients frequently report sleep disturbances, emotional loneliness, and a lack of motivation for physical activity. Insufficient individual adaptation of nutrition is also a common issue. Based on the research findings, recommendations were developed, including the implementation of regular emotional support systems, individually tailored nutrition planning, and provision of more diverse physical activities. Keywords: healthy lifestyle, social care, seniors, nutrition, physical activity, sleep, emotional well-being.
