Abstract
Baklaura darbā pētīta Latvijas un Amerikas Savienoto Valstu sakari līdz Otrajam pasaules karam. Pētījumā izvirzītā problēma vērsta uz starptautiskajiem sakariem starp bibliotēkām, lielo nozīmi ārvalstīs esošo latviešu darbībai atbalstot bibliotekāros sakarus starp Latvijas un citu valstu bibliotēkām. Kādi ir Latvijas un ASV bibliotekāro sakaru būtiskākie komponenti, to efektivitāte un nozīme informācijas apjoma palielināšanai. Kā attīstījās bibliotēkas Latvijā un kā Amerikas Savienotajās Valstīs. Kādu informāciju dod Latvijas presē pieejamās publikācijas par ASV un Latvijas bibliotekārajiem sakariem. Pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka bez starptautiskajiem sakariem nebūtu iespējama SSBA (Starptautiskais starpbibliotēku abonements) un līdz ar to zustu liels informācijas daudzums, nenotiktu informācijas apmaiņa.

The graduation paper is a research on library relations between Latvia and the United States of America till the World War II. The problem advanced in this research is drawn on international relations among libraries, at the same time underlining the great significance and support of the activities of the Latvians living abroad in this kind of cooperation. The main issues discussed in this paper are the following: the essential elements of library relations between Latvia and the United States of America; the efficienty and significance of the growth of information dimension; the historical development of the libraries in Latvia and the United States of America; information available on library relations between those two counries in Latvian press. The research results present the importance and significance of the international relations in librarianship, especially in the field of the International Interlibrary Loan, it specifies the availability, Access and Exchange possibilities of information resources.
