Abstract
Methodical recommendations for meaningful use of group work in mathematics for the 5th grade provide guidance on how to effectively organize and manage group work. The researcher developed methodical materials with the aim of helping mathematics teachers to more frequently incorporate group work into their teaching methods, as well as to assist the 51 fifth-grade students of Ulbroka Secondary School in mastering the aritmetic of rational numbers and geometric elements. Methodical recommendations and two group work assigments on two different topics were developed, along with diagnostic tests conducted both before and after the gropu work sessions. It was concluded that as a result of the researcher’s activities, the skills of students in the topics improved or remained consistently good, which helped to understand wht kind of methodical recommendations to create so that mathematics teachers can use group work meaningfully. Keywords: group work, methodical recommendations, methodical material, collaboration skill.
