Abstract
Bronchial asthma (BA) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are widespread respiratory conditions that can significantly impact quality of life. Although the pharmacological treatment groups for both diseases often overlap, there are also specific medications based on the underlying pathophysiology. The aim of this research was to examine the distribution and differences in medication use for both diseases in two “Benu” pharmacies, focusing on prescriptions issued between January 1 and December 31, 2024. The turnover of 153 asthma and COPD medications registered in the Latvian Medicines Register was compared across both pharmacies. The results reflect the alignment of medication use with GINA and GOLD guidelines, seasonal dispensing trends, and specific differences in usage patterns between two pharmacies located in Riga.
