Distopijas žanra analīze Nīla Šustermana romānā "Izkapts"

Abstract

Šī bakalaura darba galvenais mērķis ir veikt žanra analīzi Nīla Šustermana romānā Izkapts (2016) no distopijas skatupunkta, pētot un analizējot, kā distopijas jauniešu daiļliteratūras tēmas un iezīmes – futūristiska norises vieta, tehnoloģijas un kontrole, vardarbība un bailes, cerība un spēcīgi jaunieši kā galvenie tēli – ir ietvertas un interpretētas izvēlētajā romānā. Lai to sasniegtu, tika izmantotas šādas metodes: kritisks attiecīgās teorētiskās literatūras pārskats, un padziļināta lasīšana kā praktiskās darba daļas metode. Var secināt, ka abi pusaudžu vecuma galvenie tēli ir cerības iemiesojumi, spējīgi cīnīties pret korupciju un netaisnību par spīti emocionāli izaicinošajai apkārtējai videi.

The main goal of this BA thesis is to perform a genre analysis of Neal Shusterman’s Scythe (2016) from the dystopian perspective by exploring and analysing how the dystopian young adult fiction themes and features – futuristic setting, technology and control, violence and fear, and strong teenage protagonists and hope – have been incorporated and interpreted in the novel under analysis. To achieve that, the following methods have been used: the critical review of relevant theoretical sources, and close reading as the empirical method. It can be concluded that the two teen protagonists of this novel are embodiments of hope capable of fighting against corruption and injustice despite their emotionally challenging environment.
