Autentisko materiālu izmantošana vārdu krājuma mācīšanai jūrniecības inženieru specialitātē

Abstract

Šī maģistra darba mērķis ir izpētīt autentisko materiālu izmantošanas veidus jūrniecības terminoloģijas apguvē, kura ir nepieciešama Latvijas Jūras akadēmijas otrā kursa Kuģu mehāniķu fakultātes studentiem. Darba teorētiskā pētījuma metode iekļauj kritisku literatūras apskatu par autentisko materiālu pielietošanu un vārdu krājuma mācīšanas principiem angļu valodā speciāliem mērķiem, kur īpaša uzmanība tiek pievērsta vārdu krājuma klasifikācijai un atlasei. Empīriskās pētījuma metodes ietver situācijas izpēti, kuras mērķis ir noskaidrot augstskolas studentu leksiskās kompetences attīstību. Secinājumi, kuru pamatā ir rezultāti, kas ir iegūti, izmantojot noslēguma aptauju, regulāro pārbaudes darbus un studējošo novērošanu nodarbību laikā, pierāda, ka autentiskie materiāli ir noderīgs līdzeklis, lai veicinātu nepieciešamās terminoloģijas apguvi augstskolas līmenī. The present master thesis is aimed at the investigation of the ways of mastering maritime terminology needed for the second-year students of the Marine Engineering Department at Latvian Maritime Academy by means of authentic materials. The theoretical methods include a critical review of literature regarding the use of authentic materials and the principles of teaching vocabulary in ESP classroom with the focus on the classification and selection of vocabulary. The empirical methods comprise a case study, which is aimed at exploring the development of the tertiary level students’ lexical competence. The conclusions drawn on the basis of the data received from the feedback questionnaires, regular achievement tests, and classroom observation prove that authentic materials are a useful tool for facilitating learning of the necessary maritime terminology at the tertiary level.
