Abstract

For Bachelor thesis Lontova blue clay was tested for it`s strength properties and interconnection between plasticity and consistency parameters. Based on literature, it is known that Lontova blue clay, despite it`s hard consistency and theoretically high strength parameters, fails at lower stresses then predicted. Bachelor thesis purpose is to try to find interconnection between strength and Atterberg limits. Given samples are from Gulf of Finland, therefore results from laboratory tests does not precisely correspond with given literature, but the main trends are analogue – even though after classification test soil is considered as hard, and therefore with high strength results, some samples did fail faster after consolidation then expected.
