Travel behaviour patterns and factors influencing these were examined in the study.
Use of public transport is inextricably bound to walking. It is therefore important to study the factors influencing routes taken by pedestrians. The study revealed that the determinants of public transport use fell into the following categories: physical, emotional, symbolic and instrumental factors.
Given that access to the Riga Central Market is by and large available, it is the possibilities offered by the physical environment and the habits of the user public that exert the main influence on travel behaviour.
Future perspectives should be directed at increasing accessibility for potential users from all walks of life and increasing the options available for travel routes.
