Abstract
Bakalaura darba tēma ir “Iedomātās pasaules Skārletas Tomasas romānā “Mistera Y
gals””.

The subject of the Bachelor Thesis is the imaginary worlds in Scarlett Thomas’s novel “The End of Mr. Y”. The paper discusses the postmodern philosophical theories and the philosophical theories of the Victorian Age as well as analyses the characters’ imaginary worlds. The imaginary worlds are places where the main characters can realize their desires and explore different identities. In order to reach the goal, practical and theoretical research methods have been used. The practical methods are based on the textual analysis of the novel “The End of Mr. Y” and the theoretical basis for this research has been grounded on relevant literary and philosophical theories. The paper demonstrates that the border between the imaginary and the real worlds is not defined because the imaginary is an integral part of persons lived life. Key words: imaginary, character, science, philosophy, postmodernism, Victorian Age, literature
