Abstract
The Master’s Paper has been written in Latvian. It consists of 44 pages, contains 16 figures, 1 tables, 2 appendixes and 34 bibliographic sources. Keywords: keratoconus, apex at the centre, apex on the periphery, contrast sensitivity Purpose: To assess the correlation between the position of keratoconus corneal apex and the visual acuity and contrast sensitivity. Method: The visual acuity and contrast sensitivity at the following spatial frequencies: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15 cpd using the FrACT test have been evaluated. Results: A statistically significant difference is for patients with the apex at the centre, compared with a normal contrast sensitivity with (p=0.007) and without (p=0.0009) correction and for the patients with the apex at the centre and on the periphery without correction (p=0.01).
