Abstract
The aim of the study was to investigate how bullying experiences during adolescence are related to self-esteem and depression in adulthood. The study included 150 adult respondents (87 women and 63 men) aged between 19 and 52 years. Three methods were used in the study: the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965), the Patient Health Questionnaire for Depression (PHQ-9), and the Retrospective Bullying Questionnaire. The results indicate a statistically significant relationship between bullying experienced during adolescence and self-esteem and depression in adulthood. Bullying was found to have a statistically significant negative impact on self-esteem but no direct relationship with depression in adulthood.
