Abstract
Fair exchange theory has played a minor role in practice, because in exchange of digital items usually both parties identify themselves and level of trust is high, moreover the banks, if necessary, can intervene in unfair money transfers. Using blockchain technologies there have been developed decentralized and anonymous payment systems that can be used by criminals and in them canceling payments is impossible. Fair exchange in such circumstances is of great importance. This work will examine the practical problem where hackers using ransomware encrypt victim's data and demand ransom in cryptocurrency. It will be addressed how to make this exchange fair for the victim.
