Abstract
The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between perceived relationship quality, perceived parental competence and perceived social support. The participants were new mothers with children under one year of age (N = 96). Three instruments were used in the study: Perceived Relationship Quality Components Inventory (Fletcher et al., 2000), Parenting Sense of Competence Scale, (Johnston & Mash, 1989) and Multidimensional Scales of Perceived Social Support (Zimet et al., 1988). The research investigated the existence of statistically significant relationships between perceived relationship quality, sense of parental competence and perceived social support. Parents' sense of competence and perceived social support were statistically significant predictors of perceived relationship quality.
