Abstract

Maģistra darbā „Indivīda autonomijas robežas liberālisma un komunitārisma teorētiķu diskusijās” aplūkota diskusija politiskajā filozofijā 20. gs. 80. – 90. gados, kurā viens no nozīmīgākajiem jautājumiem bija subjekta dabas izpratne. Darba uzmanības centrā ir komunitārista Maikla Sendela iebildumi pret Džona Rolsa darbā „Taisnīguma teorija” ietverto indivīda izpratni, kas izceļ cilvēka autonomijas nozīmi, un komunitārista Čārlza Teilora liberālisma kritika. Tāpat aplūkots komunitārista Maikla Volzera piedāvājums liberālisma doktrīnas trūkumu novēršanai, izmantojot sociāli iesaistīta subjekta koncepciju. Darbā secināts, ka komunitāristi, uzsverot indivīda saikni ar sociālo vidi, palīdz koriģēt Rolsa izteikti racionālo un vienšķautņaino priekšstatu par subjektu un norāda uz sociālajiem nosacījumiem, lai veidotos autonoms indivīds.

The master paper „The Limits of Individual Autonomy in Discussions of Communitarian and Liberal Thinkers” is devoted to a discussion in political philosophy in the late 20th century. One of the main themes of the discussion was the nature of the self. The central theme of the paper is the communitarian critique of the liberal self, as represented in John Rawl’s work “A theory of Justice” (1971). Communitarians like Michael Sandel, Charles Taylor and Michael Walzer critique the scope of individual autonomy in liberal conceptions of the self, showing the individual autonomy as limited by other values and attachments. It is concluded, that by emphasising the embodiment of the self, the communitarians make their contribution to the development of a fuller conception of the self within the liberalism doctrine than was offered by Rawls.
