Darbā tiek pētītas latviešu bēgļu gaitas Zviedrijā laika posmā no 1943.-1947.gadam, īpašu uzmanību pievēršot to ekonomiskajām un politiskajām problēmām. This paper presents a research into the experience of Latvian refugees in Sweden in the period of 1943-1947, delving mostly into their economic and political problems. At that time Sweden became an asylum for the refugees from the Latvia. To comprehend the desire of Latvians for leaving their native land, the motives of emigration of refugees are investigated in this paper, as well as their social structure and the possible number of refugees in Sweden. The Latvian Central Council was formed in Latvia and its mediation «a boat action» over the Baltic Sea was organized. As a result, westerly orientated Latvian politicians and intelligentsia came to Sweden. By reason of this, the formation of the largest Latvian political and social organizations, the course of their activities and ideological contradictions are analyzed in this paper.
