Master theses “Grave monuments of bishops as historical source of history of Livonia” is aimed to analyze grave monuments of bishops from period of Livonia, to explain how these monuments comment on a world view of society they were made in, and role of bishops in society of Livonia. In course of work it was observed that there is no direct impact on grave monuments that would depend on political direction of bishop, or from fact that a certain bishop was or was not also a landlord in his bishoprics. Grave monuments represents that bishops identified themselves as part of certain group in society (oratores), and that in his death he was identified not only with position he was in, but also with the name of his diocese. In course of work, it was observed how the world view and traditions of Latin Christendom had direct impact on memorial culture in Livonia.en_US
