Abstract

Bakalaura darbā ir analizēts ASV prezidenta Džona F. Kenedija vērtējums literatūrā sākot ar XX gadsimta 60-to gadu otro pusi līdz pat mūsdienām. Dažādu autoru paustie viedokļi attiecībā uz Dž. Kenediju ir neviennozīmīgi un pat pretrunīgi. Atšķirības dažādu autoru vērtējumos pētījumā tiek parādītas attiecībā uz Dž. Kenedija politisko karjeru, ceļu uz prezidentūru, dažādiem sociālo reformu mēģinājumiem un darbību cilvēktiesību jautājumu risināšanā. Tāpat pretrunīgi viedokļi ir aplūkoti saistībā ar Dž. Kenedija ārpolitiskajiem uzskatiem, darbību krīzes situācijās, starptautisko attiecību redzējumu un militāro stratēģiju. Visbeidzot, bakalaura darbā ir arī aplūkots, kā vēstures literatūrā tiek vērtēta Dž. Kenedija personība, dažādi privātās dzīves aspekti, ģimenes nozīme, nāves apstākļi, kā arī viņa veidotais publiskais tēls uz tā evolūcija laika gaitā.

This Bachelor Degree graduation paper examines the subject of valuation of John F. Kennedy's life and work in the literature written between the second half of the 60-ties of the XXth century until now. Most commonly discussed valuations and opinions in respect of the various issues associated with the life of J. F. Kennedy have been outlined in this paper. The beliefs expressed by different authors regarding J. F. Kennedy are not unambiguous and sometimes are even contradictory. Differences in the evaluations by different authors are underlined in respect of J.F. Kennedy’s political carrier, his way to the presidency, multiple attempts to carry out social reform and his activities in the area of human rights issues. The opinions concerning J. F. Kennedy’s views on foreign policy, actions for crisis management, his vision on international relations and the military strategy are likewise contradictory. Finally, the paper also addresses the valuation of J. F. Kennedy’s personality in history literature, the various aspects of his private life, the importance of family, the circumstances of his death, as well as the public image he has built for himself and its evolution over time.
