The central aim of the work „The Understanding of Human Nature in Plato’s Theory of Education” is to display Plato’s reflection on how human nature (i.e. soul) and culture can be and is simultaneously shaped. Plato wants to show what a truly happy life for a human could be. To see this it is necessary to follow Plato’s thought trough his dialogue „Republic”, where his theory of education reveals certain conclusions: (i) platonic Forms of Beauty and Goodness is bound together so to produce a certain psychological effect in the soul of a child which makes them to be inclined to goodness; (ii) the concept of mimesis brings out how poets create through imitation and how very imitative human nature is; (iii) imitative poetry can generate only semblance and that (iv) human nature and culture is constantly reproduced by their interaction due to mimēsis.
