Motivācija kā viens no svarīgākajiem faktoriem svešvalodas apguvē

Abstract

Motivācija ir būtisks priekšnoteikums studenta panākumiem svešvalodas apgūšanā, bet tas bieži netiek pienācīgi novērtēts no pasniedzēja un no studenta puses. Lai novērtētu motivācijas lomu, bakalaura darba autore ir izveidojusi aptauju, kura pēc tam tika izdota Angļu filoloģijas dienas nodaļas pirmā kursa studentiem un vakara nodaļas otrā kursa studentiem kas mācas Rakstveida un Mutvārdu Tulkošanas fakultātē attiecīgi Latvijas Universitātē un Baltijas Starptautiskajā Akadēmijā. Pie tam, autore apmeklēja katras grupas vienu lekciju un ievēroja tos faktorus kuri vai motivēja, vai demotivēja studentus. Izpētes rezultāti parāda, ka tā kā pasniedzējam un studentam ir vienāda loma veiksmīgā svešvalodas apgūšanā, ir jāapzinās gan ārējos, gan iekšējos faktorus, lai palielinātu studenta panākumus.

Motivation being a significant pre-condition for learner’s success in foreign language acquisition is often underestimated both by teachers and students. In order to assess the role of motivation, the author of the Bachelor paper has designed and administered a questionnaire which was filled in by day department first-year students of English philology and night department second-year students of Translation and Interpreting from The University of Latvia and the Baltic International Academy. What is more, the author has visited one class of each group of students and made an observation concerning the factors that either motivated or demotivated them. The results of the research show that as the teacher and the learner have the equal responsibility for successful foreign language acquisition, thus, both external and internal factors should be taken into account for improving the success of the learner.
