J.Pulana "Stāsts tās latviešu tautas" starpdisciplināru pētījumu krustpunktā

Abstract

Šī darba tēma ir „J.Pulana „Stāsts tās latviešu tautas” starpdisciplināru pētījumu krustpunktā”. Mans mērķis ir parādīt Pulana tekstu citā gaismā, kā to ir izdarījis letonists A. Apīnis savos pētījumos, proti, nevis uzreiz to klasificējot kā „agrīnu tautiskā romantisma pārstāvi”, bet gan sīkāk izpētot procesus, kuri norisinājušies teksta tapšanas laika gaitā, t.i. vēstures rakstīšana, nacionālās identitātes veidošana, teksta uzbūve, kas liecinātu par autoru sākotnējiem nodomiem. Darba centrā atrodas J. Pulana latviešu rokraksta literatūras grāmata „Stāsts tās latviešu tautas”, kas, visticamāk, ir (viena no) pirmā pašu latviešu rakstītā savas vēstures grāmata. Šis fakts liek uzdot jautājumus: kādēļ latviešiem pēkšņi bija nepieciešams dokumentēt savu vēsturei? Kas Pulanu pamudināja to darīt? Kādēļ Herrnhūtiešiem tas bija aktuāli un kādas funkcijas šis teksts pildīja? Darbā es esmu izveidojusi „Stāsta” daudzslāņainu izpēti: apskatot to no katra laikaposma un autora perspektīvas. Izveidota ir arī identitātes un kolektīvās atmiņas procesu nozīmes apraksts un analīze. Rezultātā kļūst skaidrs, ka „Stāsts” nav tikai Merķeļa „Latviešu” tulkojums, bet gan izteikti hibrīds teksts.

The title of this B.A.-thesis is „J. Pulan’s „Stāsts tās latviešu tautas” in the crosspoints of interdisciplinary research”. My aim is to show Pulan’s text from a different point of view, than the lettonist A. Apinis did in his research about early handwritten Latvian literature. That means, that I am not going to classify the author as an „early representative of the national romanticism”. Instead I’m intended to try to research more in detail along the processes which took place during the developement of the text, such as history writing, creating of national identity and the structure of the text, which would tell us about the authors primar intentions. In the centre of the work is a handwritten book of literature under the title „Stāsts tās latviešu tautas”, whose author supposingly is J. Pulan. This is, most likely, the first book on history ever written by latvians, whose subject is the own history. This fact enables us to ask some questions: Why did the latvians suddendly experience a need for documenting their own history? What was Pulan’s reason to create this text? Why was it topical for the members of the Moravian church? Which functions did this text fullfill? In this B.A.-thesis I have done a multi-layered research, analysing the text out of the perspective of every author and their tendences. As a result of analysing and describing also the process of creating an identity and a collective memory it comes clear, that this text is not only a plain translation of Garlieb Merkels „The latvians” (1796), but an extraordinary hybrid text.
