Abstract

Bakalaura darbs „Tieņaņmeņ laukuma protesti” ir veltīts šī vēsturiskā notikuma priekšnosacījumu, gaitas un seku raksturojumam un analīzei. Mūsdienās starptautisko uzmanību bieži piesaista Ķīnas valdības politikas attieksme pret iedzīvotājiem, piemēram, stingrā cenzūra un cilvēktiesību pārkāpumi. Lai labāk izprastu pašreizējo situāciju, vajag pievērsties notikumam, kas zināmā mērā noteica Ķīnas politikas tālāko attīstības ceļu, tas ir, Tieņaņmeņ laukuma protestiem. Darba pamatmērķi ir, pirmkārt, izprast demokrātiskas kustības parādīšanās cēloņus, otrkārt, mēģināt izskaidrot, kāpēc tā ieguva tik lielu tautas atbalstu, un treškārt, secināt, kāpēc tā beidzās ar neveiksmi. Darbs ir sadalīts divās daļās. Pirmajā daļā ir dots īss ieskats Ķīnas 80.gadu politiskajā, ekonomiskajā un kulturālajā dzīve un aprakstīts demokrātiskās kustības aizsākumu posms. Savukārt otrajā daļa ir izskatīta studentu kustības attīstības gaita, un ir analizēti tās dažādi aspekti.

The Bachelor’s Thesis “Tiananmen Square protests” is dedicated to the description and analysis of this historic event’s preconditions, course and consequences. Nowadays, international attention is often attracted by China’s leadership politics’ attitude towards the citizens, for example, strict censorship and human rights violations. In order to develop a better understanding of the current situation, it is necessary to focus on the event that has to a considerable extent defined further development of China’s politics, that is, the Tiananmen Square protests. The major objectives of this thesis are, first of all, to understand the origins of the democracy movement, secondly, try to explain, why it received such a powerful mass support, and thirdly, conclude, why it ended with a failure. This thesis is divided into two parts. First part gives a brief insight into China’s political, economical and cultural life in the 80s, and describes the initial stage of the democracy movement, while the second part examines development of the student movement progress, and analyses some of its aspects.
