Vārdnīcu ārpus šķirkļa saraksta iekļautajiem pielikumiem ir liela nozīme. Šī pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt vārdnīcu ārpus šķirkļa saraksta iekļautos pielikumus arhitektūras un inženierzinātņu specializētajās angļu valodas skaidrojošajās vārdnīcās, kas ir pieejamas Latvijas Lauksaimniecības Universitātes un Rīgas Tehniskās Universitātes bibliotēkās, kā arī noskaidrot arhitektūras un inženierzinātņu jomu profesionāļu vārdnīcu lietošanas paradumus. Specializētās angļu valodas skaidrojošās vārdnīcas ir izvēlētas, lai salīdzinātu to struktūru un ārpus šķirkļa saraksta iekļautos pielikumus. Ārpus šķirkļa saraksta iekļautos pielikumu analīze tiek veikt pielietojot aprakstošās un salīdzinošās metodes. Pētījuma ietvaros tiek noteikta vārdnīcu ārpus šķirkļa saraksta pielikumu klātbūtne Pētījuma rezultāti parāda vārdnīcu ārpus šķirkļa saraksta pielikumu lietošanas biežumu un to dažādību specializētajās angļu valodas skaidrojošajās vārdnīcās. Pētījums arī liecina par vārdnīcu lietotāju zināšanām par vārdnīcām, to struktūru un ārpus šķirkļa saraksta iekļautajiem pielikumiem, kas ir jāuzlabo. The outside matter is an important part of dictionary. The goal of this research is to investigate the outside matter components included in specialized English monolingual dictionaries of architecture and engineering that are available in libraries of the Latvia University of Architecture and Riga Technical University and to enquire dictionary using habits of professionals of the fields of architecture and engineering. The theoretical background of the paper is based on the research conducted in the field of lexicography on the structure of dictionaries, its outside matter components and dictionary use. In the course of analysis the outside matter components are analyzed applying descriptive and comparative methods. The research results show the frequency and variety of outside matter components in English monolingual specialized dictionaries. It also reveals that dictionary users’ knowledge about dictionaries, their structure and outside matter components should be developed.
