Abstract

Bakalaura darbs ar nosaukumu “Džozefa Konrada romāna “Lords Džims” strukturālās īpatnības” ir veltīts romāna īpatnību pētīšanai saskaņā ar strukturālisma teoriju, literārās analīzes metodēm, analizējot kopējo situāciju pasaulē un rakstnieka dzīvē, kas ir kļuvuši par priekšnosacījumiem romāna radīšanai. Romānā tiek piedāvāts jauna jūrnieka dzīves un attīstības stāsts kā pamats diskusijai par vairākām cilvēka rakstura šķautnēm un problēmām attiecībās starp atsevišķiem indivīdiem, īpašu akcentu liekot uz cilvēka rakstura tumšām pusēm un indivīda instinktīvu rīcību negaidītās bīstamās situācijās. Pētījuma pamatā ir vairāku literatūrzinātnieku un valodnieku pētījumi un idejas. Darbā tiek analizēta neoromantisma kustība kā nozīmīga parādība 19. un 20. gadsimtu mijas literatūrā un kultūrā. Darba pamatideja ir izpētīt romāna „Lords Džims” kā viena no sava laikmeta spilgtākajiem un sarežģītākajiem literārajiem darbiem strukturālās īpatnības un atklāt šo īpatnību pamatā esošo cilvēku attiecību svarīgus aspektus.

The Bachelor Paper “Structural Peculiarities of Joseph Conrad’s Novel Lord Jim” analyses the peculiarities of the novel in accordance with the theory of structuralism and the literary approaches, as well as by studying the general contemporary situation in the world and the conditions of the writer’s life that brought about its creation. The novel offers a story of life and development of a young seaman as a basis for discussion of various problems of personality and of relations between individuals by laying special emphasis on the dark side of the human nature and a person’s instinctive reactions to unexpected dangerous situations. The Paper is based on the ideas and researches of various scholars, linguists. It performs the analysis of the movement of Neoromanticism as an important movement of the turn of the 19th century. The leading idea of the Paper is to analyse the structural peculiarities of the novel Lord Jim as one of the brightest and most advanced literary works of its era and reveal the underlying significant aspects of the human relations that these peculiarities represent.
