Interpunkcijas mācīšana augstskolā

Abstract

Pētniecībā interpunkcijai pievērš relatīvi maz uzmanības, turklāt maz uzmanības tiek pievērsts interpunkcijai arī angļu valodas kā svešvalodas nodarbībās. Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt interpunkcijas jēdzienu, tās pedagoģiskos aspektus un izzināt interpunkcijas aspektus, kas studentiem sagādā visvairāk problēmu. Pētījums veikts, balstoties gan uz teorētisko pētīšanas metodi (nozīmīgās literatūras apskats), gan arī uz empīrisko pētīšanas metodi (aptauja augstskolas studentu un pasniedzēju vidū, izmantojot tādus datu vākšanas instrumentus kā anketa un tests). Humanitārajā fakultātē studējošiem studentiem raksturīgās interpunkcijas problēmas saistītas ar komata, pēdiņu, kola un apostrofa lietojumu. Pētījums, kas tika veikts, pierādīja, ka visizplatītākās interpunkcijas problēmas ir saistītas ar nepareizu komata lietošanu.

Punctuation is a relatively neglected area of research, besides, there is little attention paid to punctuation in EFL classrooms. The purpose of the research is to explore the notion of punctuation, its pedagogical aspects and to find out aspects of punctuation use that cause problems to students. Methods used in the research are theoretical (the review of literature important for the research) and empirical (survey amongst tertiary level EFL students and teachers carried out by such data collection tools as a questionnaire and a test). Punctuation problem areas of tertiary level EFL students at the Faculty of Humanities concern the use of a comma, quotation marks, a colon and an apostrophe. The research carried out on punctuation proved that the most common punctuation problems are linked with the misuse of commas.
