The Master thesis is devoted to the study of rock poetry in general and song lyrics by Gleb Samoylov (“Agata Kristi”) and Kurt Cobain (“Nirvana”) in particular. The research focuses on the lyrics of the two albums, namely, “Opium” by “Agata Kristi” and “Nevermind” by “Nirvana” correspondingly, and it aims at revealing and comparing characteristic features of «Agata Kristi» and «Nirvana» songs in the context of the poetic tradition of rock.
The research demonstrates that, despite differences in language, country of origin and culture, there are many similarities between the rock poetry by Gleb Samoylov and Kurt Cobain both at the level of versification and rhythm as well as in images and motifs.
The given research can be of interest to the scholars of rock poetry and also to a broader audience interested in “Agata Kristi” and “Nirvana” creative works.
