Idiomu atspoguļojums elektroniskajās angļu vienvalodas mācību vārdnīcās

Abstract

Jebkuras valodas vārdu krājums ietver ne tikai atsevišķus vārdus, bet arī izteicienus, tai skaitā idiomas, kas sastāv no vairākiem vārdiem. Idiomu izmantošana ir iepriekš labi jāpārdomā, jo situācijai neatbilstošu idiomu lietošana var radīt pārpratumus. Mūsdienās angļu valodas apguvējiem ir iespēja viegli piekļūt elektroniskajām vārdnīcām internetā, kuras spēj nodrošināt sākotnējo palīdzību idiomu apguvē. Tādējādi bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētīt idiomu atspoguļojumu dažādās elektroniskajās angļu vienvalodas mācību vārdnīcās, nosakot visveiksmīgāko veidu, kā attēlot idiomas, atspoguļojot to semantiskās, sintaktiskās, kā arī stilistiskās īpatnības. Piemērojot salīdzinošo analīzi, pētījuma rezultāti atklāj tipiskākās iezīmes idiomu atspoguļojumā. Lai arī šajās elektroniskajās vārdnīcās par katru idiomu tiek ietverta daudzpusīga informācija, atsevišķi uzlabojumi var pilnveidot idiomu atspoguļojumu. The vocabulary of any language does not consist only of one word items bearing one meaning, but involves a lot of multiword expressions including idioms. However, the use of idioms must be well considered beforehand as inappropriate use of idioms can lead to misunderstandings. Nowadays learners of the English language have an easy access to online dictionaries freely available on the Internet, which may provide the first guidance in idiom acquisition. Therefore, the goal of the Bachelor thesis is to examine the representation of idioms in various online English monolingual learner’s dictionaries to determine the most successful representation of idioms revealing their semantic, syntactic and stylistic peculiarities. The comparative analysis of the treatment of idioms in online learner’s dictionaries reveals typical trends in idiom representation. Although the online learner’s present a fair treatment of idioms, some improvements are still recommendable. Key words: idioms, online dictionaries, idiom representation in dictionaries
