Autentisku ierakstu izmantošana angļu valodas mācīšanā

Abstract

Dotais darbs apskata autentisku ierakstu izmantošanu angļu valodas mācīšanā tehniskajās universitātēs. Viena no nopietnākajām problēmām mūsdienās ir tā, ka mācību grāmatu klausāmie materiāli par tehnoloģijām ir novecojuši. Tehnoloģiju podkasti piedāvā dažādus klausāmos materiālus, kas var tikt lietoti un piemēroti angļu valodas mācīšanai universitātēs. Šis pētījums analizē atšķirības starp kursa grāmatu audio-diskiem un radio ierakstiem, ko skolotāji var lejupielādēt no Interneta. Salīdzinājums balstās gan uz teorētisko, gan praktisko pieeju – galvenie aspekti neplānotam runas diskursam ir salīdzināti ar mācību grāmatu ierakstu diskursa aspektiem. Abi audioierakstu veidi tika lietoti mācot angļu valodu datorzinātņu studentiem Rīgas Tehniskajā universitātē, un tika apkopots mācību materiālu novērtējums, izmantojot anketas un uzdevumus ar brīviem komentāriem. Rezultāti parāda, ka grāmatu audio diski tika raksturoti kā novecojuši un garlaicīgi, kamēr radio ieraksti tika raksturoti kā dabīgi un izaicinoši. Darba praktiskajā daļā ir ierosināta jauna pieeja kā izmantot ierakstus, un tajā tiek piedāvāti jauni aktivitāšu veidi, kurus skolotāji var izmantot nodarbībās ar augstākā zināšanu līmeņa studentiem. This paper discusses use of authentic recordings in English Language Teaching at technical colleges. One of serious problems nowadays is textbook listening materials on technologies being dated. Technology podcasts offer various listening materials that can be used and adapted for English teaching at universities. This study analyses the difference between the course-book CDs and the radio recordings the teachers can download from the Internet. The comparison is based on both theoretical and practical approach – the main aspects of unplanned spoken discourse are compared to those of the course-book recordings. Both types of recordings were used when teaching English to students of computer science at Riga Technical University and the students’ evaluation of the teaching materials was obtained via questionnaires and tasks with open-ended questions. The results show that book CDs were labelled as outdated and boring, while radio-recordings were characterized as natural and challenging. The practical part of this paper suggests a new approach to using recordings and proposes new types of activities the teachers can use with advanced students.
