Epiteta funkcionāli stilistiskā loma Ovīdija „Metamorfozēs”

Abstract

Maģistra darba tēma ir Epiteta funkcionāli stilistiskā loma Ovīdija Metamorfozēs. Par darba teorētisko pamatu ir izmantotas gan antīkās pasaules teorētiķu, gan mūsdienu zinātnieku teorētiskās atziņas par mīta un tēla izmantošanu un transformāciju literārajos darbos, ar akcentu uz epiteta funkcionāli stilistisko lietojumu. Pētījuma mērķis: atlasot emocionāli ekspresīvākos stāstus no Ovīdija Metamorfozēm, noskaidrot tajos izmantoto epitetu funkcionāli stilistisko lomu – kā un ar kādu epitetu palīdzību Ovīdijs panāk mītu tēlu psiholoģisko padziļinājumu, niansēti atklājot to emocionālos stāvokļus, un kā vienlaikus epiteti liek pēc būtības traģiskiem stāstiem iegūt komisku nokrāsu. Izpētot emocionāli ekspresīvākos mīlas mītus, tiek secināts, ka tieši ar epiteta lietojumu Ovīdijs ir devis spilgtu un niansētu raksturojumu tēliem un darbības fonam. Tēlu psiholoģiskais padziļinājums tiek panākts, pateicoties daudzveidīgam epitetu lietojumam, turklāt epiteti lielā mērā funkcionē kā teksta elements, kas katra stāsta traģiskai tonalitātei liek pārtapt komiskā.

The subject of this master paper is The Functionally Stylistic Role of Epithet in Ovid’s Metamorphoses. Theoretical background of this paper is based on literature (namely, on the functionally stylistic use of the epithet) – from works made by both ancient world theorists as well as modern scholars, who examine the adaptation and transformation of the myths and characters featured in the metamorphoses. The aim of this paper is to discover, and then to analyse the functionally stylistic role of epithets within the most emotionally expressive myths contained within Ovids’ Metamorphoses. This is done by first of all examining the way epithets are used, and which specific epithets Ovid uses to emotionally enrich his characters, then revealing in detail their emotional state and indicating a comic twist to the generally tragic nature of the myths. Exploring the most emotionally expressive “love” myths, it is concluded that the use of epithets was the primary tool that Ovid used in order to give both detailed and expressive descriptions of the characters and their settings/surroundings. With the use of a wide range of epithets Ovid is able to reveal his characters psychological depths. The image of psychological depth is achieved through the varied use of epithet; in addition, the epithet largely functions as a text element, which makes the tragic tonality of each story to turn into comic.
