Augstskolas studentu saziņas prasmju pilnveide angļu valodā ar drāmas elementu palīdzību

Abstract

Angliski runājošās valstīs drāmas izmantošana angļu valodas mācīšanā ir kļuvusi par noderīgu metodi, kura veicina studentu prasmi izmantot valodu efektīvi. Maģistra darba mērķis bija izstrādāt un praktiski izmēģināt teorētiski pamatotu kursu, kura mērķis bija attīstīt studentu komunikatīvās prasmes angļu valodā ar drāmas palīdzību. Maģistra darbā tika apskatīts plašs teorētisko materiālu klāsts, kuros tika aplūkoti ar andragoģiju saistīti aspekti, tādi kā motivācija, pārliecība, mākslinieciskā jaunrade, drāmas izmantošana pieaugušo apmācībā, kā arī komunikatīvo prasmju attīstīšana. Darbā empirīsjkajā daļā tika pētīta Latvijas Universitātes Humanitāro zinātņu fakultātes Angļu valodas drāmas kluba dalībnieku komunikatīvo prasmju attīstītība, izmantojot situācijas izpētes metodi. Dati, kuri tika iegūti no anketām, intervijām un novērošanas pierādīja, ka drāma var tikt izmantota angļu valodas apguvē Latvijā, veicinot studentu komunikatīvo prasmju attīstīšanu.

In English-speaking countries the use of drama in English language acquisition has become a useful tool fostering students’ ability to operate the language effectively. The goal of the master thesis was to work out a theoretically grounded and a practically piloted course aimed at the development of students’ communicative skills in English through drama. The theoretical methods comprised the analysis of relevant theories on andragogy, focusing on such aspects as motivation, confidence, artistic creativity, the use of drama with adult learners, and the development of communicative skills. The empirical methods comprised a case study, which explored the development of the tertiary level students’ communicative skills who participated in the English Drama Club at the Faculty of Humanities, the University of Latvia. The data received from the analysis of the questionnaires, interview, and observation prove that drama is a valid tool in language acquisition in Latvia as it may foster the development of students’ communicative skills in English.
