Abstract

Šī Bakalaura darba autore izpēta daudzos lingvistiskās daudzveidības aspektus, kas ir raksturīgi praktiski jebkurā valodā. Izpētes galvenais mērķis ir analizēt un demonstrēt Jamaikas kreolu valodas stilu daudzveidību. Pirmkārt, tiek apskatīti jautājumi, kas skar valodu daudzveidību un valodu kontaktus, koncentrējoties uz valodas situāciju Jamaikā. Tiek izcelti dažādi Jamaikas kreolu valodai raksturīgo akrolekta, mezolekta un bazilekta aspekti. Video ieraksti, kas atspoguļo jamaikiešu runas daudzveidību, kalpo kā fonētisko, leksisko un gramatisko Jamaikas kreolu valodas īpašību materiāls. Autora secinājumi pierāda, ka Jamaikas kreolu valoda pārstāv lielu skaitu runas variāciju, kas atšķiras starp dažāda vecuma, dzimuma, sociālo un ekonomisko klašu pārstāvjiem, kā arī atkarībā no apstākļiem, kādos saruna noris.

The author of the present Bachelor Paper investigates various aspects concerning linguistic variation that is characteristic practically of every language. The main goal of the research is to explore and demonstrate the diversity of linguistic styles in Jamaican creole continuum. The issues of linguistic variation and language contacts are discussed before focusing on the linguistic situation in Jamaica. Different linguistic aspects characteristic of the Jamaican acrolect, mesolect, and basilect are singled out. Several video recordings representing Jamaican speech varieties serve as the material for phonetic, lexical, and grammatical characteristics of Jamaican creole. Results of the analysis carried out by the author show that Jamaican creole represents a great number of speech variations which vary among speakers of different age, gender, social and economical classes, as well as according to the setting the conversation takes place.
