Maikla Kaningema romāna "Īpatņu dienas" tulkošanas problēmas

Abstract

Diplomdarbs analizē literatūras tulkojumu no angļu valodas latviešu valodā, pamatojoties uz tulkošanas teoriju. Diplomdarbā izmantoti piemēri no M.Kaningema romāna „Īpatņu dienas” tulkojuma latviešu valodā, kuru autore aizsākusi tulkošanas prakses laikā. Diplomdarbs analizē avota un mērķa tekstus, ar nolūku pamatot autores izvēlēto tulkošanas stratēģiju, izskaidrot tulkošanas metožu izvēli un norādīt, ka tulkošana vienmēr ir lēmumu pieņemšanas process. Lai arī katra atsevišķa literatūras darba tulkojums ir neatkārtojams, diplomdarbs norāda uz likumiem, kuru ievērošana palīdz saglabāt avota teksta vienreizīgumu, nekaitējot mērķa valodas normām.

This paper takes a look at literary translation from English into Latvian from the point of view of translation theory, using examples from the translation of M.Cunningham’s “Specimen Days” into Latvian done by the author of the paper. This paper approaches the problem of analyzing source and target texts, with the aim of identifying the translator’s strategy when translating, justifying the choice of method and always considering translation to be a decision-making process. Although each translation of the literary work is unprecedented, this paper has set out some guidelines which help to preserve the uniqueness of the source text without violation of norms of the target language.
